Pyrenean Grange + Apartments for Rent

Midaou_view_bed.JPGAvailable for rent this summer is a mountain ‘grange’ above Barèges at Midaou.  We went for a look last week and if you want to get away from it all then this is the place for you.  In the middle of the high summer pastures facing south this is a real Heidi experience.  With no-one around, looking at the amazing views in all directions and surrounded by fields of flowers you risk forgeting that the real world exists.  The grange is for rent on a weekly basis for 500€.  The grange is accessible by a dirt track but if you don’t wish to take your car up the owners will drive your supplies up at the start of the week and bring them down at the end.  Barèges is a 15-20 minute walk down a relatively steep path so this is not for the faint hearted but there are a good selection of walks from the grange itself so you may not even come down the entire week.  If you are tempted contact us directly at templiersluz@yahoo.fr for more information.

For great photos of the Cirque de Gavarnie, the Pic du Midi, the Pont d'Espagne and Lourdes, all easily accessible from Luz St Sauveur and the Hotel Les Templiers click on http://www.greatsites-midipyrenees.co.uk/ and look at the slide shows and videos.  Great.

Let summer holiday planning begin.

Pyrenees Direct

Pyrenees Direct - A new way of getting to the Pyrenees direct from Manchester.  Flights are every Monday and Friday from May - October.  If you fly Manchester-Lourdes/Tarbes on a Friday and return on a Monday (i.e., the reverse of the pilgrims) there might even be a special price for visitors coming to Luz if you ring and ask.  I expect it would depend on your dates and what the demand is.

We've added the site to the links on the left hand side of the blog page so it'll stay there permanently.

We're in the middle of winter with snow everywhere (although today down in Luz it is superbly sunny and balmy) but its nice to know someone is thinking about next summer.  Thanks to Cath at Pyreness Direct!
