Retrouvez les Pistes par Transports en Commun

 

L’association MountainRiders (www.mountain-riders.org) a fait un bilan écologique des stations de sport d’hiver.  Ca montre que en moyen 75% de gazes effets de serre d’un séjour au ski sont due que au mode de transport pour venir dans les stations.  Ca va dire que si vous venez en train ou en covoiturage le plus gros effort de réduire les émissions est fait. 

Pour arriver à Luz, et ensuite accès les stations de la vallée avec les transports en commun c’est assez facile (si on est un peut organiser).  Prendre le train jusqu'à Lourdes et âpres il y a un car du Gare de Lourdes jusqu’à Luz qui vous dépose devant l’Office du Tourisme, deux minutes a pied de l’Hôtel Les Templiers.  Ca prend 35 minutes ou 55 minutes s’il y a un changement a Pierrefitte-Nestalas.  Les horaires de bus sont sur le site internet de SNCF alors vous pouvez regardez en même temps que les horaires de train (ou en cherchent votre trajet mettre Luz St Sauveur comme destination et ça sort tout seul).

La navette pour montez à Luz Ardiden part devant l’Office du Tourisme à 9h, 10h30 et midi les weekends et pendant les vacances scolaires.  Ça redescend à 11h15, 15h15 et 17h15.  En semaine, hors vacances scolaires la navette monte à 9h et descend à 16h.  Il y a un consigne a ski pour laissez votre matérielle en haut la nuit – la bonne plan pour pas la trimbalai par tout.

Pour monter à Barèges depuis Luz le car SNCF part à 9:05 et 10:35 (ça prend 10 minutes et coute 2€) chaque matin et redecendre chaque apres-midi à 15h40 ou 19h20 (aussi 10 minutes et 2€).  Ça vous donne le temps de arrêtez pour boire un coup ou pour allez aux thermes quand les pistes ferme.  Entre Barèges village et le départ des pistes à Tournaboup il y a une navette qui tourne constamment.

Get to the Slopes via Public Transport

An interesting study by the Mountains Riders Association (www.mountain-riders.org) shows that 75% of greenhouse gas emissions for a ski trip are due to the transport you take to get there.  The implication is that by taking the train you cut your CO₂ emissions by more than half just like that.  Taking the train from the UK is an excellent option (as has been shown by a couple of tests where someone took the plane, someone the bus and someone else the train with the person taking the train having a far more comfortable journey and arriving before the others). 

Take the Eurostar to Paris and then the TGV to Lourdes.  This gets you from London to Lourdes in 10 hours during the day.  Not bad at all.  Or you can get on the Eurostar around 6pm in London and catch the night train from Paris to Lourdes so you don’t waste any time at all.  It arrives around 7am in Lourdes and there is a SNCF bus from Lourdes station at 8am which gets you to Luz around 9am.  It drops you at the tourist office in Luz, 2 mins walk from Hotel Les Templiers. 

Once in Luz you can use the shuttle bus to get to Luz Ardiden, leave your day bag in the locker room and get skiing.  There is also a locker room facility for leaving your skis and boots up at the slopes overnight so you don’t have to cart them around each morning and evening.  If you want to sample all three resorts in the valley (there is also the Domaine du Tourmalet and Gavarnie-Gedre) you can catch the SNCF bus to Barèges and then the Tourmalet resort shuttle from there.  Getting to Gavarnie is difficult outside the school holiday period but during the 2 weeks at Christmas and the 4 weeks of French school holidays in February there is a shuttle between Luz and Gavarnie resort every day.
